I love Shane-o-Mac back in the day, but this UK-produced baseball jersey was the drizzling shits, made of itchy sandpaper.

    2014-09-29 20.58.30

Shelly & Sabin were my favourite tag-team. Wore this tee to a ton of wrestling events.

    2014-09-29 20.58.49

Heel Edge had some really great tees.

    2014-09-29 20.59.09

Post-WWE, Pre-WWE Brock Lesnar UFC tee. Unlike Lesnar, it’s pretty soft.

Suicide! On your mind! Chicken fried! Hella nice! OOC knew I was a massive Suicide fan (from TNA) so he bought me this when he was in Orlando.

My boy Test! I wore it when we got to meet in back in 2007. I congratulated him on banging Kelly Kelly AND Stacy Keibler. He blushed and chortled as a response.

Why not, the Attitude Era belt with WWF logos. Awesome 😀 Still can’t find my XFL shirt but it’s around here somewhere….

ED LESLIE is most famous for his BRUTUS THE BARBER BEEFCAKE persona, but did you know he had a total of EIGHTEEN gimmick names?! In this video (originally seen in OSW Review #30) we run down the bad, the worse and the hilariously awesome gimmicks this side of the Barber Shop. Enjoy!

Part of WWE’s frugal push for new content on the network! The show is just Rene Young doing a voice-over to introduce wrestling themes. This week it’s WM31 entrances only. Let’s do it to it! (Grammar, that is)

10: LL Cool J’s WrestleMania Intro
    – This isn’t a song! Rene says tough titties, it has LL Cool J.

9: Bray Wyatt “Live in Fear”
‘Walking dead scarecrows’ coming to life getting closer to his lantern is so friggin’ cool. It’s freaky, haunting and fits perfectly with him, and would be cheap to do! I absolutely love it. I felt bad for the crowd trying to do the fireflies/phone light thing in the daylight. D’oh!

    8: The Rock “Electrifying”
I love how ridulously huge the Mania set is, the gigantic text dwarfing a massive dude like the Rock.

7: David Guetta & Skyler Grey “Rise” / Kid Ink “Money and Power”
    Sandbag.

6: Stardust “Written In The Stars”
Shocked really as this segment is less than 30 seconds! Rene drops ‘comic’ and ‘Sinster’ and says it’s Stardust’s first WrestleMania match. Love the kayfabe!

5: John Cena “The Time Is Now”
I can’t look at Cena’s rag the same way again.

4: The Undertaker “Rest In Peace”
From Death Valley to Silicon Valley. Cool rising pillars during his Mania entrance, I never noticed it before.

3: Sting “Out From The Shadows”
Rene calls it the final battle between WCW and WWE. It’s so weird the week before RAW Sting admitted that dredging up a 14-year grudge would be ridiculous (that it was about Aitch abusing his power) but they went back to it for the match itself and seemingly officially now.
Was it ever revealed why Sting had a Japanese Taiko drum band? It’s really cool and different but it makes no sense for Sting?

    2: Triple H “The Game”
I mentioned it on the Piledriver Wrestling WM31 episode, Terminator 2 is my favourite film and Schwarzenegger is my favourite actor (T1&2, Predator, Running Man, Total Recall, Commando etc) so doing a Terminator entrance is something I’d book! There has to be a way to have a less silly Nazi-terminator deeley that Aitch had on, but although it’s SO hokey, it was amazing. Flipped seeing Schwarzenegger on-screen saying “WrestleMania! It’s time to play the game!”

1: Rusev “Roar Of The Lion”
Rusev dadada! Rusev dadada! I completely agree here with #1. Rusev’s tank entrance may be the absolute best entrance in the history of wrestling. I FLIPPED OUT seeing it. Loved Lana beaming with pride with the fur & belt on her shoulder. Combined with the patriot gimmick of Rusev, and the “ride the lightning” of national anthems, it’s incredible! Can you think of a cooler entrance?

Overall it’s just extra content to have in a list of exclusive Network shows; this half hour episode feels quite slap-dashed, as Rene doesn’t appear on camera (nobody does!). Also sure it’s a less blatant way to advertise their themes on iTunes. However I think it’s great that WM31 gets special mention for it’s incredible entrances, as a PPV it tops the list. I wonder how this’ll work for when they’re not showcasing a PPV; like if they’ll just show their entrance videos on loop for 3 minutes.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]My Resident Evil Re-remake Review dropped earlier today, check it out 🙂

  • Chris Jericho Network Podcast w/John Cena

Chris Jericho Network Podcast w/John Cena

    [vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Chris.Jericho.Podcast.6

With Austin doing his Broken Skull Ranch vids instead of WWE programming, they’ve given the live podcast on the Network to Chris Jericho! Part of WWE’s attempt to bring new non-ring-based content to the Network (chronicled here!) . Cena came off as quite humble and grateful for his position. Jericho only threw softballs and expected questions (save for steroids) and didn’t press any answers. Y2J’s quite positive/easy going but comes off as more of a WWE shill and very non-confrontational. This comes after his repeated twitter/podcast rants coming to WWE’s aid, like defending Bill DeMott against abuse allegations, promoting Roman Reigns and blasting obnoxious fans during the Hall of Fame. After doing a quick summary of his career (bodybuilding to thuganomics) it got a bit rambly but was overall an enjoyable conversation but nothing can’t-miss. Here’s the scoop, milkshakes!

    • The 5 Moves of Doom are: two shoulder tackles, whirlybird special (aka the Protobomb), fist and fireman’s carry. I loved how two moves were the same!
    • His first riding partners “Team Stay Cheap” : Funaki, Bashams, Tadgers and Ultimo Dragon, 6 guys in a minivan & stayed in the cheapest hotels.
His debut vs Kurt Angle: Kurt was supposed to wrestle Taker but he couldn’t make it, so he got the nod. When Vince & Hayes saw his hair (shaved sides and grown-out top, dyed blonde) he was made cut his hair before going on TV!
    • Nicely criticises the locker-room about being afraid/”won’t put themselves out there” and agrees with Vince’s brass ring statement. Jericho didn’t push or prod this point.
    • Y2J nicknamed Cena “whacky roll-up guy” due to his repeated variants of roll-ups (hilarious)
    • Name-drops Regal and Funlee, after seeing him wrestle, Fit sighingly said “at least get a pair of boots so you look the part”. Cena then bought 75 sets of boots and 150 sets of tights. Cena then mixes up the Winnipeg Jets colours with the Edmonton Oilers and pretends not to notice/bites his tongue.
    • Thuganomics White rapper gimmick: Before this, he didn’t look unique and his promos didn’t work. (He was in awe of the surrounding talent in OVW too). He drives home the need for an identity to stand out. This came about by joining the Freestyling group at the back of the tour bus: Rikishi, Palumbo, Jindrak, Ron-Ron, Eddie & Jimmy Korderas. (In another interview he specifically mentions Stephanie overhearing and proving it wasn’t learnt by rapping about her can she was holding)
    • He’s the “1st Reverse 2nd Gen wrestler”: His dad (“Johnny Fabulous”) got into the wrestling business a few years after he did.
    • Jericho directly asks if he took PEDs or steroids (due to his constant large size & fast mutant healing powers) He responds “no, I’ve been lucky to always be around motivated individuals.” Get the boat! He makes the solid point that he’s always been around the same size.
    • They touch on his pre-wrestling career as a bodybuilder, his insane physique, and show a bodybuilding pic from the Max Muscle Naturals. (Not the WCW wrestler!)
    • Who’s the next face of the company? Fans will always disapprove of a company-approved guy, then puts over Roman.
    • They kayfabe “actual heat” between Rock & Cena and labour it for an ice-age. It was hard being kayfabed in this type of interview…especially when Rock post-Rock/Cena II said it was a multi-year carefully laid out plan.
RE: Fans booing: He doesn’t know what fans want but gives his all.
JBL is Poopy aka “Poopy Cena”: Brushes it off saying he tried being versatile, trying something different
Heel turn? After a casual conversation with Vince about it, he recorded new theme music & got gear made. He’d be happy to do it but doesn’t want to let the kids down. He loves being inspirational for that 8 year old in the front row. Then they show make a wish photos incl. Connor Michalek.
His hand signals: “HLR” was originally between Cena, Mark Curano (Senior Director of Talent Relations) and Michael Cole; it’s the “ok” hand sign for ‘the three losers’ as they called themselves. “You Can’t See Me” gesture was a joke with his brother.

And that’s about it! Definitely nothing special, unlike Austin w/Aitch and McMahon. I can’t ever see Jericho getting anything more out of them beside some friendly road stories. — Jay

Any of these NEW WWE Network Shows sound decent?

    CAMP WWE (Late 2015)
Seth Green’s new short animated comedy series. WWE wrestlers as kids at Summer Camp run by Mr. McMahon. Touted as “WWE’s first adult comedy”. We’ll see.

    SWERVED (May)
A WWE version of Jackass/Bad Grandpa.

JERRY SPRINGER PRESENTS WWE TOO HOT FOR TV (April)
Here’s the blurb: Hosted by legendary talk show host Jerry Springer, this series will re-introduce the WWE Universe to the most outrageous stunts and cringe-inducing moments in TV history. The series will be chock full of insane situations and racy romps from WWE’s past that will have members of the WWE Universe asking, “Did they really do this?!” Springer will inject his own brand of humour into each episode with themes such as “Love Hurts,” “All in the Family” and “Weddings and Funerals.” This sounds like WWE Countdown but with the only talking head being Jerry Springer.

    DIVA SEARCH (This Fall)
    New season of Diva Search.

LIVE! WITH CHRIS JERICHO – DEBUTS MONDAY, APRIL 6 w/JOHN CENA
Much like Austin’s TV podcast, Jericho’s got one now, one per month.

    UNFILTERED: WITH RENEE YOUNG (May)
Interviews with wrestlers & celebrities about everything except what they are famous for.

CULTURE SHOCK: WITH COREY GRAVES (June)
Blurb: WWE commentator Corey Graves reveals a variety of unique venues, customs, music, food and people as WWE’s tour travels around the world. From Marvel comic headquarters to a tattoo shop on the lower east side of Manhattan, Graves examines the local culture with his unique perspective and style. Short-form (i.e. only a few minutes long)

WWE THE LIST – COMING IN JUNE
WWE Countdown but we can’t call it countdown.

    NEW EPISODES:
More episodes of WWE 24, Countdown & Rivalries, as well as airing Hulk Hogan’s Rock N Wrestling.

    One off SPECIAL:
FLOYD MAYWEATHER VS. THE BIG SHOW: THE BIGGEST VS. THE BEST (APRIL 27)
To capitalise on the Mayweather fight.

    NXT PPVS
Although the press release said monthly, WWE later clarified it’ll be keeping the same schedule (i.e. quarterly)

    AN EVENING WITH MICK FOLEY
A taped “comedy” show by Mick with some heavy editing I guarantee! They weren’t filming in Dublin sadly 🙂

Note re: New season of Tough Enough
Said to be more like American Idol (with live voting), it’s on TV (USA Network). They did recently put Season 2 of Tough Enough (with OOC’s boy Matt Morgan) on the WWE Network. I did review S1 of TE, you can check it out here!
